CHARLIE WAITE

I have decided to study Charlie Waite as one of my photographers, I have been watching the TV program  “how to take a stunning picture” on channel five on a Tuesday evening (www3.fivetv/stunning_pictures/episodes ) He was the landscape photographer in series 3  and I really enjoyed and liked his work and his techniques.
One of the things that I really liked was the idea of taking a frame with you when shooting your photos, Charlie called this a “composition aid” it’s a piece of black card with a hole in the middle to view and imagine your photo even before you have taken your camera out of the bag, I am going to make one of these so I can do the same thing with my photos.
Charlie waite was born in 1949 and worked in British theatre and television for the first 10 years of his professional life. Charlie began his career as an actor and stage assistant, but later switched to photographing actors instead. He soon realised he enjoyed this a lot more and carried on with the photography.
Charlie uses fine grain transparency film, graduated filters and often polarizing filters. The images are drum scanned and then printed by Charlie himself as IRIS prints on fine art paper. “This procedure ensures that the depth and details in the picture are optimally transferred “ .
He is particularly noted for his square format images using a 6x6 frame.
Charlie is a great believer in waiting for the right light and weather; he says “bad weather leaving home great weather arriving on location”. He says wait for the weather look over your shoulder and look to see if the is a break in the clouds and if the is just get ready to take the perfect shot.
Charlie has published 27 books in the uk and Europe all exclusively of his own photography. He also enjoys and encourages other photographers this is seen in one of his books “landscape photographer of the year collection 2 “, the landscape photographer of the year awards was the brain child of Charlie waite. The photos were judged by a panel of judges including Charlie.
Charlie is described in books, TV and on the Internet as one of the most celebrated international landscape photographer. He uses colour and black and white in his work.

These are some of my favorite pictures that Charlie Waite has taken.
