my portrait work vs Paul Strand work

This is the work of Paul Strand I like his work because because of the position of the people, also that he stands them next to a wall or a solid back ground so it adds texture to the image.

I have had a go at this technique in my own pictures i am not that happy with them i don't know why but they just don't seem to jump out at me !! is it because the back ground is not right i really don't know.

I might try my pictures in black and white see if that helps.

I have taken these images at my mums house with my Canon 550 d with the standard lens.

  1. Hi
These images reflect the fact that you have started to become more informed via your research. And this has led to a good series of images that are also on task as regards the criteria you are labelling at. We need to look these in more detail now as we get nearer to the end of the course after xmas.
We will post produce all these images in photoshop and look at the best and final images to put forward.
Use the xmas period to add to these, make sure that you get some posed images straight to camera as per research and also get some images of people moving in a reportage / documentary style.
